Mount Maunganui's Bay Park Oval is set to host its second cricket international when the White Ferns take on Australia this morning.
The White Ferns are coming into their home series against Australia having played more cricket than it has in previous years.
White Ferns coach Haidee Tiffen says her squad is in fine shape ahead of today's first one day international against Australia in Mount Maunganui, with no injury concerns to speak of.
And given the amount of cricket they've been playing locally and abroad, there will be no excuses when playing the world's best side.
"We've been playing a huge amount of cricket, it's been a long domestic season," Haidee says.
"The majority of our squad have been playing probably the most cricket they've had in all of their careers over the course of the summer, so we feel really well prepared."
Although there hasn't been any international cricket over the past couple of months, several White Ferns have been testing their skills in Australia's Women's Big Bash League.
Haidee says the new competition has helped develop New Zealand's top talent, and will improve the level of the women's game in general.
"New Zealand Cricket, from my point of view, we encourage our girls to take those opportunities and expand their game. We can't provide that level of competition here when there are lots of international players playing in that first women's Big Bash.
"That's experience that is just gold. That adds to the Australians as well, where they've been alongside six of our girls, and vice versa.
"Now they're going head to head when playing for their countries. I'd say it will have helped both countries."
Haidee won't decide on her playing XI for the first ODI until this morning, when she'll get one final look at the Bay Oval deck.
Rain over the past few days in Mount Maunganui will have added a bit of juice to the surface, and should it look particularly inviting for bowlers, Haidee will make selection decisions based on that.
The match gets underway in Mount Maunganui at 10.30am.
