Crash spike disappoints police

Police are disappointed with a spike in vehicle crashes across Tauranga on Thursday afternoon.

Between 1.45pm and 6.30pm four crashes occurred in Tauranga.

Senior Sergeant Ian Campion says none resulted in serious injury.

'Over a 24 hour period I'm disappointed that we had four crashes in Tauranga,” says Ian.

'The bulk of those are drivers that made an error so I'm disappointed with those numbers.”

One of the crashes at the intersection of Chadwick Road and Cameron Road in Greerton involved three vehicles.

A crash later in the day at the corner of Cameron Road and 9th Avenue was initially thought to be serious, but only resulted in minor damage to vehicles.

Ian believes 'silly judgement” contributed to the crashes.

'Drivers just need to concentrate on what they are doing.

'It's lack of concentration and silly judgement errors.”

No drivers involved in Thursday afternoon's crashes were under the influence of alcohol.
