Update: Bay make semi-finals

Bay of Plenty have qualified for the semi-finals after a dramatic come from behind 27-26 win over Taranaki in Rotorua today.

It was a close first half with both sides working hard but Taranaki went into the break 14-10. The second have remained a tight affair but with only two minutes left on the clock Taranaki jumped out to a 26-10 lead and Bay of Plenty looked gone.

But the Blue and Gold had self-belief and battled on. When they scored with 10 seconds remaining even the Sky TV commentators had written them off but a silly penalty as the Bay scored meant the home side were given the penalty tap at halfway.

Bay of Plenty took the tap and worked the ball around eventually scoring in the corner to make it 25-26 with time up. Up stepped Issac Te Aute to convert the kick to send the home side into the semis.

The will take on Counties Manukau while Wellington play North Harbour in the other semi.

Kick off for the Bay game is 2.25pm.
