When it comes to the domestic one-day competition, one win from five trophy matches doesn't make it pretty reading for Northern Knights cricket fans.
But scratch the surface a little deeper and it becomes clearly obvious what's happening.
The Northern Knights will be playing at the Bay Oval on Wednesday, January 20.
Tim Southee, Trent Boult, Scott Kuggeleijn, Ish Sodhi and Mitchell Santner currently make up the list of Northern Knights bowlers not playing for the side.
Throw into the mix all-rounder Corey Anderson who currently is working his way back into the Black Caps as a batsman and of course Kane Williamson, who has pretty handy spin options.
It's no surprise the side has struggled to put more ticks in the win's column this season.
Obviously it's not all doom and gloom with the batting line up having far greater depth – Daniel Flynn, Dean Brownlie and Anton Devcich have all played for the national side and BJ Watling is the test wicketkeeper-batsman. So the side can usually put together a strong battling line up.
International commitments have regularly meant the Knights have their depth tested more often than any other of the six major association during the domestic season.
Tim (presently sidelined through injury) and Trent have been regular absentees in recent years, although Trent has only recently been a limited-overs international regular. But coach James Pamment probably wasn't planning on losing both Ish and Mitchell at the same time throughout the 2015/16 campaign, while Scott's injury has stretched the Knights' depth of talent to new levels of elasticity.
It will be put to the test again when the Knights host the Central Stags on tomorrow at Cobham Oval, Whangarei.
The Knights will then take on the Canterbury Kings at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui on Wednesday, January 20, at 11am.
To mark the game being played here, SunLive a summer cricket prize pack up for grabs.
