Max Mason, Tauranga Chamber fo Commerce CEO.
'The chamber's traditional role is the voice of business and this is something we can do.”
He says this is an important function in the community and using the chamber to promote the ‘buy local' message, be a collective voice for business on issues like the Eastern Link and provide a Bay perspective on national economic issues and events are important.
Other topics Max will address in his speech include the chamber's success at holding more events in the last year and the growth of attendance of those to collectively more than 4000 and also on the success of a new marketing approach.
Other business at the AGM includes the acceptance of new chamber president Warwick de Vere who is replacing Ian Turner, a president of four years and vice president for the two years preceding that.
Warwick is the general manager operations of Ballance Agri-Nutrients.
