‘If music be the food of love, play on, give me excess of it,' wrote Shakespeare in his famous comedy Twelfth Night.
My Sun Media colleagues have picked their favourite barbeque songs and there's been some great tunes already. So without further ado I present the SunLive Summer BBQ Playlist, Volume Two.

The Weekend Sun editor Laura Weaser says her barbecues often go long into the night and opted to choose full albums instead (leaving me to pick her songs). Well played Laura, well played.
Sublime – Sublime Nothing says, ‘Lazy summer days' like a bit of California punk-ska. Sure, the lyrics are sometimes obscene, but there's something very tongue in cheek and playful about Sublime that's best suited for a backyard get-together. Every 90s teen (or anyone that's stepped foot into a live covers band night) will know the words to ‘What I Got', so sing them loud and proud.
Fat Freddy's Drop – Bays I'm not usually a fan, but the nine-track new album from the Kiwi dub group is incredibly catchy. A little more edgy, putting an cap on what sounds like an never-ending jam session, they've become a little more accessible and make for a great singalong.
Lana Del Rey – Honeymoon When the night gets on, and you've had a little too much to drink in the hot summer sun, nothing makes you feel relaxed like a privileged American gal singing about her first-world problems. Usually my late-night inspirational writing music, her new album – tailored around late-night parties, lazy days on the beach and love gone wrong – is the perfect comedown after a long day of brews. This one's a little sarcastic, but I really do like her wingey music…lols.
Everyone's favourite advertising consultant, poker shark Doug ‘Douglas, what are you doing down here?!?' Britton, who looks like he has a foot firmly planted in both the present and the past.
Otis Reading – Sitting On The Dock of The BayI can't sing. I can't whistle. This song makes me do both at the top of my lungs.
Heavy Cross – The Gossip Goodness gracious me. This is one of those ‘Summer Jams' (terrible term by the way). Once the bass drops, that's it. I'm on my feet throwing shapes, doing what my daughter calls ‘The Crazy Dance'. I could be at home, in the car, or at the supermarket. When this songs comes on – IT'S ON!
Pam Grier – Long Time Women Just love this song for some reason. Can't really explain it.
Jurassic 5 – The Way We Do It Anything by Jurassic 5 really. But this song has a great hook thanks to the White Stripes, and produced by Heavy D . Not everyones cup of tea, but this song is a good one for getting in the mode for a bit of a party.
What I like most about SunLive journalist Andrew Campbell is the vast amount of obscure factoids he has tucked away in his cranium – which explains why I've struggled to find videos for his songs.
Capercaillie – M'Lonam The opening track off their Beautiful Wasteland album. Gaelic, total gibberish but a wonderful piece of singing on enchanting melody line that winds past the clink of glasses and the chit chat.
Michelle Shocked – God Is A Real Estate Developer Nice juicy big band bump and grind with catchy lyrics that will bring a smile while the sausages sizzle. (Note from the writer – this was a tricky, TRICKY song to find – hope you enjoy it Andrew.)
Paul Kelly – Bradman Just because. There are better Paul Kelly tracks.
