Motorists are being warned to expect delays on State Highway 2, between Tauranga and Katikati, as road works continue today.

Yesterday saw reports of traffic backed up for 5 kilometres near Te Puna as resealing took place in the morning and afternoon.

Further resealing works are planned for a 230m stretch of road on State Highway 2, at Thompsons Track, south of Katikati today.

The works are scheduled to take place from 9am, and are scheduled to be completed early this afternoon.

Stop/go traffic management will be in place until the resealing is complete and further speed restrictions will remain in place until the road has been swept and road markings reinstated.
