Brett was the Northern Districts' A team Player of the Season for 2014/15, and is described as a hard-hitting batsman who scored a century against Zimbabwe in a World Cup warm up match last season

The 24-year-old has also proven himself as a prolific run scorer and wicket taker in recent seasons.

He is also one of six Bay players named in the squad. Brett has already played for the Knights in the Ford Trophy and Georgie Pie Super Smash formats.

The other debutant is Nick Kelly – a 22-year-old middle order batsman from Counties Manukau who bowls left arm spin.

Nick has progressed through Northern Districts' age group teams and last season averaged more than 40 runs per innings in Northern Districts A cricket, including a century against Auckland A during a three-day game.

The pair will make their debuts after five Knights' players reported for Blackcaps duty ahead of the upcoming Australian test series.

Knights' Player of the Year Anton Devcich returns to the team after recovering from a slight hamstring injury, and joins Tony Goodin and Tim Seifert as inclusions in the squad.

Dean Brownlie and Ish Sodhi remain in Lincoln playing for NZA against Sri Lanka A, while Corey Anderson remains unavailable due to injury.
