Bay of Plenty Steamers regular season has come to an end with a 43-30 loss to Otago in Dunedin this afternoon.
Steamers were 29-16 down at the break after Otago ran in four tries, three conversions and a penalty to the visitors three penalties and a try. It also didn't help that Steamers loose forward Johan Baroul was given 10 minutes in the bin for illegal play just before the break.
It meant Otago were soon on the board straight after the break and continued to extend their lead eventually scoring another three converted tries.
The Steamers had a spirited come back with 10 minute on the clock running in two converted tries to make it 43-30, but it wasn't to be.
The loss means the Steamers will face Hawke's Bay in the Champion ITM Cup next week. While Otago will face Wellington.
