Day three saw the fancied finalists notch impressive wins.

Auckland East were far too strong for tournament hosts Northland, beating them 48-3 at Kensington Oval.

The Bay of Plenty are yet to concede a single point in three matches so far, and have have racked up 155 points against their trio of opponents.

However, the Bay meet a tougher opponent in Waikato today, who are well rested after their bye yesterday and come off the back of a 33-7 win over debutants Taranaki on Monday.

Auckland East will meet King Country, who had a solid 20-10 victory over Thames Valley 20-10. The other result from yesterday's pool play saw Auckland West beat Taranaki 29-5.

In other matches today, Auckland West take on Counties Manukau and North Harbour face Northland. Thames Valley and Taranaki both receive today's byes.

The week-long tournament is a showcase for the rising stars of rugby.

Players like Sonny Bill Williams, Keiran Read and Richard Kahui have all played at the tournament, which has been running since 1925.
