Once again Joshua Munn features in the headlines.
Backing up a round one 65 (par 70), Munn has shot a spectacular 63 at the Tauranga Golf Club to hold a three shot lead at the Carrus Open.

Munn is an aggressive golfer and it paid off yesterday as he stuck to his guns. When he missed greens his recovery was simply stunning, making two vital up and downs on two finishing holes.
Although sitting at the top of the leaderboard the game plan doesn't change. 'I will stay very aggressive, that's my game and hopefully the long game works itself out. If you are aggressive you get rewarded with good chances at birdies, so I just have to capitalize from there,” says Munn.
Munn may be a risk taker off the tee, but showed class on the short grass as he one putted 11 straight holes.
”I got the putter rolling early today and there was no doubt the putter was key to my game today. The run started at the 11th green through to the second green, there were a few gimmies but it was a lot of fun out there.”
However, you can't help but notice Mark Brown slowly working his way up the leaderboard.
The experienced campaigner and defending champion signed for a 65 to throw his name into the hat for the weekend. One would be a silly person to count him out of the opening event of The Jennian Homes Charles Tour.
This tournament is littered with amateurs and Munn isn't the only one showing form. Ryan Chisnall and Nick Coxon join professional Blair Riordan and Mark Brown at -8 forming a dangerous chasing peloton.
In the Women's field, Momoka Kobori has been impressing many over the first two days of the Carrus Open. Yesterday, she shot a round of 69 (par 72) which included six birdies. In Momoka's slip stream is Rose Zheng (71) and Alanna Campbell (69) who are both just one shot back.
Play gets underway at 9.30am today.
