Police and emergency services are on the scene of a car versus van crash at the round-about outside of Bayfair Mount Maunganui.

Reports say a number of people have been injured and are being treated by ambulance staff. Motorist travelling along Maunganui Rd and Griven Rd can expect some delays as emergency services clear the area.
The incident happened about 7.30am this morning. More details to come.

with no idea of the roadcode. We see it time and again on this roundabout. As one car (Sometimes indicating) exits the roundabout, the cars waiting to enter the roundabout "GUN" their motor and mash their foot into the carpet, so that they can beat the next car coming from their right. Only, they FORGET that they also MUST give-way to any vehicle already in the roundabout (Often a slow moving lorry or bus) The absurd and irresponsible acceleration then needs to become rapid braking, anger and the activation of the horn towards "The offender" Even though THEY are in the wrong. Sometimes it goes wrong!!!!
