UPDATE 1pm: Tauranga City Council officials have confirmed that the water supply will be back on soon for those properties affected by this morning's emergency shutdown.
The cause was third-party damage to a water main and repairs are currently being finalised.
Photo: File.
Properties that were out of water included parts of Welcome Bay Road, Azores Way, Pennington Place and Esmeralda Street.
Earlier:
Water supplies have been shut off in Welcome Bay because of an ‘issue' with a water main on the intersection of Forrester Drive and Welcome Bay Road.
Council communications staff have no information on the nature of the issue at this time, or details of what has caused the shutdown.
It is not known at this stage how long supplies will be effected, or how widespread the problem is.
SunLive will bring you more information as it becomes available..
