A motorcyclist is dead after a collision with a car in Tokoroa this afternoon.

Police and other emergency services attended the crash at the intersection of Pateke Place and Kereru St, Tokoroa about 3pm today.

The motor cyclist was seriously injured in the collision and died a short time later. The road was been closed and diversions were put in place while the Police Serious Crash Unit investigate the incident. Police say investigations are continuing.

Meanwhile, Waikato Police and other emergency services are currently attending a fatal crash on Gordonton Rd, also known as SH1B, Taupiri north of Hamilton. One person died at the scene when the two cars crashed.

Two others are injured and are being taken to Waikato Hospital by ambulance. The road is currently closed and diversions are in place while police examine the scene.
