McLaren Valley will play host to three days of music performed across three stages and featuring a line-up of international and local acts that cover the realms of pop, rock, folk, electronica, psychedelia, blues, hip-hop, world, alternative and beyond.

Festival director Paxton Talbot says more acts will be announced in the coming months as the line-up grows to present a festival 'unique and special to New Zealand”.

'We've picked these artists with excellence in mind,” says Paxton.

'Bands and performers who, no matter their genre, will be able to speak to any member of the audience on some level, just due to their sheer calibre.”

Heading the festival line-up is British dance duo Disclosure, who will come to New Zealand's shores in support of their feverishly anticipated sophomore album Caracal which includes the new single ‘Omen ft. Sam Smith'.

They'll be co-headlining with psychedelic legends The Flaming Lips, who are known for elaborate stage shows of complex light configurations and video projections, plus balloons, eclectic costumes, giant hands, confetti, puppets and a signature man-sized plastic bubble.

Paxton, who has experience working in director roles for music festivals in New Zealand and Europe, says the festival is an all-ages event that will feature different offerings for a varied audience.

There will be markets, a wellness programme and themed camping which will create a festival Paxton promises will bring 'a taste of Glastonbury and Coachella to the Pacific”.

This will include family camping, glamping beside the lake, camping in clearings around the site, plus spaces for tents near the stages for those who want to be close to the action.

Transport

Has anyone given thought to the potential traffic hazards at such a busy intersection on the Kaimais, which already has more than its fair share of accidents?

Location does intrigue!

The location certainly surprised me being very aware of highway access and internal roading issues, coupled with the passive high use of this very special park. I wonder if TECT All-Terrain Park was considered, purpose built to cater for large numbers with minimal impacts , and if not, why not. McLarens Falls Park and the falls are hugely popular with all ages and families looking to get back to nature, looking to enjoy the 'great outdoors', and no more so than at this time of the year, locals and tourists.
