The sun may be shining on the Bay of Plenty today, but the weather is set to deteriorate across tomorrow and Wednesday as a front moves northwards up the country, followed by a cold southerly change.
But the MetService have confirmed it's not all bad news, with high pressure beginning to build on Thursday signalling a settled end to the week and a potentially fine weekend.
According to the MetService, rain and wind is expected mid-week. Photo: File.
'While the front moves over the country there is likely to be a period of strong-to-gale north-west winds in some eastern areas,” says MetService meteorologist Emma Blades.
'In addition, heavy rain is likely in the west of both islands, the central North Island hill-country, and the eastern Bay of Plenty,"
Tuesday's drizzle throughout the Bay is expected to become rain on Wednesday, pushed along by strong westerlies that will see skies clear by Thursday.
And at the moment, Friday's weather is forecast to be clear skies and light winds.
