A 25 year old woman was taken to Tauranga Hospital with a dislocated elbow and a broken jaw after her vehicle left the road and struck a tree in Welcome Bay on Thursday night.

The accident happened in Victory Street soon after 6pm. The vehicle left the road on the bend by the tennis courts and the vehicle with the woman and an infant onboard ploughed through the planting and stopped after felling a tree.

The child was uninjured and was removed from the vehicle by bystanders.
