The finale of the Tauranga Moana 2015 Matariki Festival is guaranteed to be lip-smackingly good this weekend.
For the closing part of the event, MasterChef New Zealand 2014 winners Kasey and Karena Bird will be dishing up a delectable treat for everyone down at the Papamoa Library and Community Centre on Saturday.

Along with a cooking demonstration, the Maketu sisters will also share their journey from becoming the first MasterChef duo to how they selected recipes for their cookbook 'For the Love of…” which was released recently.
Tauranga City Libraries' Māori Services Specialist Information librarian Bernie Johnson says she is expecting a strong turnout for the event.
'Kasey and Karena are such an engaging duo with a passion for cooking,” says Bernie, 'and were an obvious choice to involve in the Matariki Festival.
'Their creations include traditional Māori recipes that have been handed down from family members that Kasey and Karena have tweaked and added their own touch.”
Food is a big part of the Māori New Year celebrations, and traditionally, Māori used the Matariki stars to indicate the seasons and plan for the year ahead.
Bernie says the stars would help with 'what food to plant, how successful the growing season would be, and how much food would need to be stored for the year ahead.”
Copies of Kasey and Karena's cook book will be on sale during the event with an autograph session also planned on the day.
Kasey and Karena Bird will be at the Papamoa Library and Community Centre on Saturday, July 18, from 11.30am to 1.30pm. Tickets, costing $5, are available from Papamoa and Tauranga libraries.
