The Bay of Plenty can expect its first fine weekend in what seems like ages this weekend, two sunny days with clear skies and light winds – but there's a catch.
There will be frosts. The temperature could go as low as two degrees tomorrow morning. Sunday is expected to be slightly warmer starting off at four degrees.
Fine weather is expected for the weekend. These photos were taken by Murray de Lues this morning.
'Two degrees and light winds is definitely enough for some frosts around the area, says MetService meteorologist Robb Kerr.
The Bay of Plenty is not expecting to see black ice on the roads which is being warned about in other parts of the country, says Robb.
'Black ice really when you have got wet ground and then that freezes, but there will certainly be some icy spots around. Frosts severe in sheltered places, that's the story.”
State Highway 29 over the Kaimai range, and SH36 up Pyes Pa both qualify for icy road conditions.
Monday's weather is similar, but Tuesday could see cloud increasing and perhaps a few showers with a developing north easterly. This is expected to become rain on Wednesday with a freshening north easterly.
