Barton's action in ensuring a woman passenger was safely able to cross Waihi Road with her walking frame caught the attention of others, says Bay of Plenty Regional Council senior communications advisor Prue Sisam.

Barton Mitchell.

'Barton's action in stopping the bus and helping her across the road before continuing on with his route was hugely appreciated,” says Sue.

Barton is also regularly the subject of positive feedback to the Bay Hopper call centre for going the extra mile for his passengers.

For his consistently top-quality service, Barton was awarded a grocery voucher, box of biscuits and certificate by Bay of Plenty Regional Council.

Well done Barton! so good to hear of someone being rewarded for something positive. I am so over everyone being negative.

Sounds like Barton deserved this award for regularly giving it his best shot. However adverse reports on many drivers put them down as being arrogant unhelpful late & smartasses. No wonder buses are usually near empty.More like Barton might raise the standard.
