Motorists are advised to use alternative routes on Friday as many of the city's streets are closed to accommodate New Year's Eve celebrations.

All roads on the Mount side of Grove Avenue and Salisbury Avenue will be closed to traffic, except those with vehicle passes, from 2pm on December 31 to 8am on January 1.

Plan to use alternative routes when driving through the city on Friday.

In central Tauranga, the south bound lane (from Dive Crescent heading toward the city) of The Strand is closed between Devonport Road and Harington Street from 6am on December 31 to 6am on January 1.
