Football madness at Links Ave

Tauranga City United Reserves gave Hibiscus Coast a taste of their own medicine when they beat the visiting team on home ground.

Links Ave hosted the first game off the rank in the Northern League Reserves playing the Hibiscus Coast Reserves at 12.30pm.

Reserve team coach Ross Johnson thought today's game was brilliant.

'They beat us up in the first round 2-1, so to come back and win is brilliant. They are just getting better and better.

'They boys are coming through and it's all good for the club.”

Hibiscus Coast beat the local boys in the first match of the season, but Tauranga City United turned the tables on the home turf in Links Ave.

'We just have to keep working on it and getting the young guys out there,” says Ross.

'We have about seven or eight games left and we are aiming to win most of them.”

Ross says the reserves team is sitting about the middle of the table now and 'we hope to finish in the top five”.

'Which will be good for us because it's our first year. It's all new to these young guys.”
