The Lloyd Morgan Lions Clubs Charitable Trust

Lion Adam
Papamoa Lions News

Since last month's Lion Around with the Papamoa Lions Club – we've been to one of our club's more important events: The Lloyd Morgan Lions Clubs Charitable Trust Dinner and Awards presentation, held at Bureta Park Hotel.

The Lloyd Morgan Lions Clubs Charitable Trust was established in 1979-1980 in honour of Lloyd Morgan, to commemorate Lloyd's year as president of the International Association of Lions Clubs. He is the only New Zealander to achieve this.

The trust has become the multiple district entity for charitable work of the Lions of New Zealand.

The trust benefits sick, disabled or distressed people in New Zealand and the Pacific Islands, and helps in the field of education as well. Aid is given through a grant or loan to Lions clubs, other organisations and individuals.

The trust has assisted with many appeals, a major one being assistance toward the establishment of the NZ Liver Transplant Unit.

Grants and loans continue to be made to support all manner of Lions humanitarian projects.

Club member Kelvin Bennett received Life Membership, the highest honour, and Don Whitworth was given an Honoured Membership, in recognition of the work the pair have done for Papamoa Lions Club throughout the years.

Until next month,

Cheers, Lion Adam.
