January 2013 is fast approaching and that means the Netball Bay of Plenty Summer Camps are almost here.
Each year two camps are run in Mount Maunganui at the Harbourside Netball Courts, one called ‘Centre Pass Summer Camp' for players in years 8-10 and one called ‘Advanced Summer Camp' for year 10-13 players.
These camps are designed to give players more of an idea of what is required when playing representative netball and also to equip players with skills to help them become better netball players on and off the court.
The Netball Bay of Plenty Summer Camps have been run for several years and the demand for a place on them continues to increase.

'We find that parents are pleased to find a holiday activity for their children that is focused on a sport that they love”, said Anna Skelton, the programme co-ordinator.
Players attending summer camps will increase their knowledge about the game from the talented coaches in attendance.
They will learn new netball skills, gain knowledge about the game and learn about nutrition and training to become fitter and faster for netball. Fun activities such as beach trips and team building activities are included in the programme although the best thing about camp is often the lasting friendships which are formed with fellow campers. In addition all attendees get a free netball and a camp singlet.
'We are so lucky to have a fabulous beach on our doorstep and we run some of our activities there to provide a change in environment from the court,” said Anna.
There is also an opportunity for coaches and umpires to participate as attendees to the camps.
'This opportunity is open to all umpires who would like to up-skill and be coached by senior umpires leading to the achievement of an umpiring practical exam,” said Anna.
'The same applies to coaches who are keen to gain more coaching expertise from the senior coaching staff running the camps,” said Anna.
In previous camps guest appearances from regional and franchise coaches have been a highlight for all attendees.
The fee for players attending is $180 incl GST.
