The Kings Wrath is a lovely pinot Noir from the Kings series produced by Marisco vineyards in Marlborough.
The fruit for this wine was grown in rich fertile clay loam soils, the low cropping vines were pruned to two canes and used to produce a concentrated balanced fruit.
The 2011 vintage was a strong La Nina summer in Marlborough. This weather pattern brought warm temperatures with a bit more moisture than average. The spring was warm and sunny, which resulted in excellent flowering. Mid-summer had some scattered rain which produced vine health and healthy canopies. The warmer temperatures allowed for an early harvest of excellent fruit, the fruit is all handpicked.
The result a lovely pinot with depth, nice primary fruit flavours coming through with lovely silky tannins and a hint of oak. An extremely elegant pinot.
