Bike Wise events have been going on all over the city over the last week.

It's great to see so many fluro wearing cyclists out and about, commuting and cycling for recreation.

On Wednesday night keen cyclists braved the miserable weather for the ‘Pedal Your Heart Out' ride to support the Heart Foundation.

There were some wonderfully decorated red bikes so a big thank you to those who came out and joined the ride.

The Tauranga Road Cycling club had an open invitation for anyone to come along and have a go at their training ride on Tuesday night and their night race on Thursday night.

It was great to hear some past club members who hadn't been for a while dusted off their bikes and joined in!

This Sunday there are three Bike Wise events going on.

Bruce Galloway is up early on Sunday leading the Ultimate Ride at 7.30am from Red Square.

The ride is 30km of on-road and off-road tracks around the city and outskirts; it includes a combination of all the urban mountain bike loops.

The Tauranga BMX club is running a basic coaching session at 1pm on Sunday at the Cambridge Road Park.

The session will cover how to ride a BMX track with its different obstacles you will also learn the riding terms that go along with BMX. Bookings essential contact [email protected]

If you are in Katikati this weekend, head along to the Family Fun Day on Sunday at 3pm at George Vesey Stewart Park.

Join in the family bike ride taking a leisurely pace through the local paths.

The ride will finish for a dip in the local pool (pool entry free for those who have biked) and a sausage sizzle.
