Bike Wise month kicked off Wednesday with the MoreFM Go By Bike Day.
Over 100 commuter cyclists cycled into Red Square between 6.45am-8.30am and received a free breakfast as part of the national celebration of Kiwis ditching cars, trains and buses – and cycling to work or school.
Congratulations to Paul Copeman who won the major spot prize of a new mountain bike thanks to Rocket Bikes.
Well done to all of those who came down to celebrate with us and a big thank you to MoreFM for sponsoring this awesome event!
On Wednesday we had a fantastic turn-out for the first Urban Mountain Bike Loop, 28 keen cyclists including beginners and experienced riders joined Bruce Galloway for an on-road and off-road cycle tour starting from Cambridge Road Park, the new home of Tauranga BMX.
The Urban Mountain Bike Loops are a great opportunity to learn about Tauranga's many cycle ways and build confidence on your bike.
These rides will be happening every Wednesday at 5.45pm throughout February so check out the Bike Wise calendar to find the starting points.
This Sunday at 1pm, the Tauranga BMX club are offering an hour of basic BMX coaching at Cambridge Road Park.
Learn to ride a BMX track and tackle the obstacles on the track like a pro.
These sessions are just $5 bookings essential contact [email protected] if you are keen!
There is something for everybody this Bike Wise month so pop to your local library or local bike shop and pick up your Bike Wise events calendar or download from www.sportbop.co.nz
That's me for now, stay safe on your bike, and remember to always wear a helmet!
