I once read that every one thousandth of a second the each of your 50 trillion or so cells perform hundreds of different chemical reactions. Of course this is some sort of estimate but it is quite staggering to know the things your body does every second of the day.
Our cells need a wide range of nutrients to help them function normally. These include vitamins, minerals and other biologically active compounds; especially antioxidants. While it is fairly obvious that everything starts with a good diet, adding natural health supplements can be incredibly beneficial as they can target specific nutrients at specific doses.
My health philosophy is not to see our bodies as a group of organs, or even systems, but at more foundational level, a collection of trillions of cells. The ability to heal ourselves is found in the normal operation of each of your living cells. What we need to focus on are the things we can easily do to keep us healthy. Likewise, we need to understand that when things go wrong there are many things we can do to help restore normal cell activity.
On the subject of vitamins, did you watch the TV documentary last week on the dangers of vitamins? I would be interested in your thoughts. I am happy to try and answer any questions about vitamin or any type of supplementation. My view is that the documentary missed pretty much every point about why people should take supplements.
I spend about half of my time creating supplement programmes for people with various problems and it is great to see people get real improvements. I have just spoken to someone who has had long term fatigue problems yet after three months on a personalised programme has had her energy return back to normal.
Over the coming weeks we will start to look at some of the more common problems and next week we will start to look at spring sneezes and snuffles. In the meantime if you have questions please email these through.
