People have the opportunity to see inside the new Golden Sands School in Papamoa at Saturday lunchtime when it holds an open day.
The school is due to open next year and so far has 75 students enrolled.
Golden Sands School Principal Mel Taylor outside the school's library.
Principal Mel Taylor is happy with the construction process of the school and is excited by the modern facilities.
'It's a really lovely, flexible teaching space – different to traditional classrooms,” says Mel.
'There are glass doors for open plan learning that can be used as one classroom, or can open up into two.”
She says this style of classroom allows for 'the opportunity to teach the practical skills students need such as collaboration and problem solving, but still using the traditional stuff such as literacy and numeracy”.
The school open day is from 11am to 1pm.
