For most people, writing and directing a production involving 300 primary school pupils would fall into the ‘mission impossible' category.
Greerton Village School pupils take time out from dress rehearsals for ‘The Legend of Greerton Village School'.
But Greerton Village School performing arts manager Caroline Taylor-Levey sees it as a labour of love.
The production, ‘The Legend of Greerton Village School', was written by Caroline and a colleague.
Scheduled for a final performance at the Tauranga Racecourse's Fairway Lounge on Thursday night, it looks at the historic school, built in 1878, through the eyes of several generations of a Greerton family. They reminisce about their experiences living in the suburb and going to the school.

The production is narrated by family members, with the scenes they describe acted out by pupils through music and dance.
'The children were very enthusiastic and it was lovely to have the whole school involved,” says Caroline.
Greerton Village School is known for its emphasis on the performing arts and pupils are enthusiastic participants in music and dance classes.
