Zespri has released a video showing one of the Te Puke orchards infected with Psa.
Zespri director corporate and grower services, Carol Ward, says she wants to keep in close consultation with the industry and this video is a useful tool in this.
See video below of Peter Ombler on a tour of a Psa infected orchard.
Industry leaders will meet with Minister of Agriculture and Biosecurity David Carter later this week to discuss a ‘grower assistance package'.
'The next step is developing the details of the response,” says Carol.
'We do need to keep in close consultation and communication with our growers.”
She says the Psa infection appears to have worsened with signs of dieback and red weeping on vines.
'This indicates it has moved from something that is just affecting the leaves to something that is now affecting the health of the vines.”
The Zespri video gives an insight into what growers should look for when assessing for Psa infection.
