Silverware for young entrepreneurs

The Tauranga Girls' College young enterprise team touched down at Tauranga Airport on Thursday afternoon with trophies to add to the school's cabinet.

Jude Maurice, Kaashta Khullar, Hayley Horne, Carey Lintott, Emma Harvey, Rajinder Singh, Amanda Haines and Viviana Shin.

The six Year 13 students have returned from the Young Enterprise Scheme national awards in Wellington where they were awarded both second place and the Edge Award for Excellence in Communications.

It's a satisfying end to the extra-curricular competition which the girls have been working on since February, says teacher Jude Maurice.

'I'm very proud of them. They've worked really hard.”

The group's business is EduKid, making interactive resources for children aged four to six.

'We wanted to teach basic education, literacy and numeracy.

'Most resources were expensive so we wanted to make something different,” says team member Hayley Horne.

EduKid were awarded $2000 for second place and Tauranga Girls' College receives $1000.
