Four Mount Maunganui College students are national finalists for a video they made about drink driving.
These Mount Maunganui College students are in the national final for their video about drink drinving.
The video, titled ‘Bad Dreams', is one of five secondary school entries that made it into the finals of the Turners Short Film Competition, which is deigned to get secondary school students to tackle the issue of drinking driving.
It is an event run in collaboration between Students Against Drink Driving, Turners Auctions and Blue Light.
The theme for this year's competition was ‘Plan B4 U Party'.
Mount Maunganui College students Marie Purchase, Emma Aiken, Megan Burton-Brown and Evelyn Hunter say making the five minute film was an exciting opportunity.
'We're really, really excited. Just the fact that we have come up with something that will educate kids about what they do when they are going to parties.
'Education is a big part of what needs to happen.”
Bad Dreams follows two young students as they prepare for a party.
They make the decision to drink and drive and then have a car crash.
One of the girls wakes up and realises it was all a dream. She relives the party planning with her friend but this time decides to take a taxi.
The five finalists have been judged by SADD's student ambassadors and their placings will be revealed at an awards ceremony on November 5 to be held at Turners Auctions' showrooms in Penronse, Auckland.
