Pigs race at Mount gala

Several hundred people watched some of New Zealand's best racing pigs at Mount Maunganui Primary School on Saturday.
The pigs were dressed in special costumes and raced through tyres, barrels and other obstacles at the school's gala day. Spectators could place a $2 bet on a pig and the person with the winning pig received $5.

See below for a video of the pig races.

Veteran pig racer Fred Greenville's two grandchildren attend the primary school and he wanted to make a contribution to its gala. All money raised from the pig racing will go back to the school.
Other gala activities included a Weet-Bix eating competition, cake stalls, face painting, nail painting, petting zoo, pony rides and a sausage sizzle.
