Three members of the Tauranga Girls' College Board of Trustees, including chairperson Judith Logan, have resigned because of ‘significant issues' with the school's principal Pauline Cowens.
Board members Mike Horsley and Eddie Bauckham resigned with Judith – all stating in their resignations ongoing conflicts with the principal.
Acting Tauranga Girls' College Board chairperson Ross Brown says the board will meet with the Ministry of Education and school principal Pauline Cowens after the sudden resignation of three board members on Monday.
Their resignations were announced on Monday by acting Tauranga Girls' College chairperson Ross Brown.
Judith says the relationship between Pauline and the three board members had broken down.
'It's sad that it's come to this. We believe our positions have become untenable and that we are not able to deliver to the standards required of the role.”
Judith was not willing to explain the details that led to the breakdown in the relationship with Pauline, who was not available for comment because she is currently in China.
Acting chairperson Ross Brown described the resignation as a real loss to the board.
'The three people were highly valued and very skilled in what they delivered to the board.
"They worked very long hours on many of the school's projects and their contribution will be greatly missed.”
He says the board will meet with the principal and the Ministry of Education on Thursday and says the situation will become clearer after the meeting.
