Twelve Western Bay of Plenty students have each received $5750 from the Bay of Plenty Education Trust's Millennium Scholarship pool.
The recipients are: Ashley Crawford and Moana McNeil, both of Tauranga Boys' College; Zoe Stevenson and Meg Yen of Tauranga Girls' College; Mackenzie Lovegrove of Bethlehem College; Gabriella O'Meara and Owen Miller of Mount Maunganui College; Regan Hughes and Brittany Sternberg of Otumoetai College; Willemien de Kock of Katikati College; Daniel Archbold of Te Puke High School and Louise Hannam of Aquinas College.

The $5750 received by each student will be spread over four years of study.
Trust chairperson Ses MacKinnon says the scholarships are awarded annually to exemplary students who intend to begin study in the general fields of science and technology or emerging industries at a New Zealand tertiary institution.
They are made on the recommendation of school principals.
