Trees removed from Mauao

Pedestrians using the base track around Mauao will this week encounter some delays as arborists remove pine trees.

Tauranga City Council reports arborists will be removing failing pine trees from an area near Sandy Beach on the Pilot Bay side of Mount Maunganui's base track.

Trees being removed include a dead pine on its way to becoming a safety hazard.

Pedestrians may be asked to wait at times while equipment is operating near the track.

More from Tauranga City Council's weekly update for the week starting September 2:

City Waters

Clearing the gutter of leaves and debris before and after each heavy rain event can make all the difference for you and your neighbours. Please don't ever sweep leaves off your own property onto the road. This just creates a blockage and potential flooding issue for someone else.

The Council is in the process of upgrading catch pits at various sites around the city to help reduce stormwater blockages, but every bit residents can do helps.
