The Bay of Plenty Polytechnic has received a government funding boost to help grow its enrolment.
It received $600,482 as part of the government's announcement that 12 polytechnics and institutes of technology are to provide up to a total of 700 new student places.
Tauranga MP Simon Bridges says this is great news for students and tertiary education in Tauranga.
'I know from discussions I have had with the polytechnic, people there will be very pleased about this and the funds will be put to very good use,” says Simon.
The additional funding is for 2010 and is part of the Government's Youth Opportunities package.
The aim of the package is to help the 12 institutions, including the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic, cope with forecast enrolment growth.
