SunLive reporter Elaine Fisher is at the Fieldays and says by midday, 27,000 people had walked through the gates.

She says the annual agricultural event at Mystery Creek in Hamilton is on track to seeing more than 100,000 people in the next four days.

Minster of Primary Industries Nathan Guy officially opened the four day exhibition saying New Zealand is well placed to meet export goals by 2025.

He said the outlook from the recently released Situation and Outlook report forecasts primary growth of seven per cent each year for the next four years.

'Currently New Zealand exports to 200 countries and primary exports bring in $30billion a year.”

'Our premier feature theme for 2013 is ‘Getting down to Business in the Global Economy,” reports the Fieldays website.

Among the thousands of visitors today were Te Puke kiwifruit growers Christine and Roy Vercoe who checked out the Zespri stand to sample the new red fruit.

Also visiting the site were Mount Maunganui College students on a fieldtrip from school.
