Police are searching for a dangerous man who failed to return to prison after being granted compassionate bail.

Cain Te-Kahurangi Hanara, 22, has a warrant for his arrest and is actively avoiding police.

Hanara failed to return to prison on October 15 after being granted compassionate bail by the courts, police said.

He has links to Tauranga and the Kāpiti Coast; however, he is believed to be in the wider Auckland area.

“Hanara is considered dangerous and should not be approached.”

Anyone who sees him should call 111 immediately, police said.

Hanara has appeared in court on several occasions this year facing violence and driving charges.

He first appeared in January on a trio of charges including assaulting a person in a family relationship, speaking threateningly and driving while disqualified.

He appeared in the middle of the year facing more charges including wilful damage and assaults with intent to injure.

Information can also be provided to police via 105, quoting file number 261016/8427.

Alternatively, tips can be provided anonymously to Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
