Police have named the man who died in a house fire on Matakana Island.

He was David Russell McCoubrie, 79, from Matakana Island.

Emergency services were called to the fire on Paama Court about 4.10am on September 12.

One person was found dead inside the property and another was treated for burns.

Police said inquiries into the fire were ongoing.
