Marine enthusiasts set course for expo

The NZ Boat, Fish & Dive Expo returns to Mystery Creek on August 29-30 with more than 100 exhibitors, dozens of boat brands and plenty of attractions for marine enthusiasts and families alike.

Boats are just the beginning of a spectacular marine lifestyle event returning this month.

The third annual NZ Boat, Fish & Dive Expo is on at Mystery Creek Events Centre, near Hamilton, on August 29-30.

Organisers say sites sold out well in advance, with more than 100 exhibitors lining up including 40-plus boat brands plus an extensive range of fishing tackle, dive equipment, marine electronics, accessories, clothing, kayaks, adventure destinations and seafood products.

After two successful years of growth, this year’s event promises to be the biggest and most exciting yet, organisers say, bringing together boating, fishing and diving enthusiasts from across the country for a weekend packed with products, experiences, education and entertainment.

“Whether you’re a seasoned offshore angler, passionate diver, weekend boatie or simply enjoy the Kiwi marine lifestyle, the expo offers something for everyone.”

Organisers say education and marine stewardship remain key pillars of the event.

“A range of New Zealand organisations, clubs and foundations will be involved, helping promote responsible boating, sustainable fishing practices, marine conservation and water safety.”

This includes LegaSea, a non-profit organisation dedicated to restoring the abundance, biodiversity and health of New Zealand’s marine environment.

Other presentations/demonstrations at the expo will come from Coastguard NZ, on topics such as seamanship and bar crossing, while fishing tackle company Daiwa will host a variety of podcasts and guest speakers.

“We want to get the right message across,” says the expo organisers. “As the event continues to grow, the focus remains firmly on delivering a positive experience for everyone involved.

“We want the expo to be enjoyable, informative and welcoming for everyone – from first-time visitors and families through to serious boating, fishing and diving enthusiasts.

“Equally important is ensuring exhibitors receive value and have an opportunity to connect with thousands of passionate marine consumers.”

Charity initiatives

As in the previous two years, organisers say the 2026 expo will also drive sponsorship initiatives for three very important charity organisations in New Zealand that contribute so much to the fishing and boating communities – the Wish4Fish Charity, LegaSea and the Coastguard NZ.

“Supporting entities like this is extremely important given that these organisations rely so heavily on donations and support to be able to achieve the fantastic work that they do.”

More than 100 exhibitors and 40-plus boat brands will converge on Mystery Creek for the NZ Boat, Fish & Dive Expo on August 29-30.

While there will obviously be boats galore, organisers say the show floor at Mystery Creek will also be packed with leading trailer manufacturers, the latest marine electronics, cutting-edge marine accessories, and an enormous range of fishing and diving gear from some of the industry’s most recognised brands.

“Whether you’re upgrading your current set-up or searching for the latest product releases, you’ll find everything marine in one convenient location.

“From exclusive new product launches and unbeatable show specials to hands-on demonstrations, expert advice, family entertainment, and the latest innovations from across the marine industry, the NZ Boat, Fish & Dive Expo truly has something for everyone.”

Expo organisers say families will be well catered for, with children’s competitions and activities, interactive displays, plus a photo competition that celebrates the incredible experiences New Zealanders enjoy on the water.

Visitors can relax at the Seafood Cafe & Bar or choose from an impressive selection of delicious food trucks offering something for every taste.

“It’s the perfect place to recharge before exploring even more of what the expo has to offer.”

Every visitor has the chance to win a door prize boasting $8000 worth of premium fishing gear from Daiwa.

In addition, visitors will have the chance to win thousands of dollars’ worth of spot prizes throughout the weekend.

The expo was resurrected after a break of more than a decade.

Between 2002 and 2011 the Waikato region hosted the Boat, Fishing and Leisure Show, which at its peak attracted more than 23,000 attendees.

“For 12 years the region did not have the privilege to enjoy such an event, so after many requests we were very excited to bring the region its very own boat show once again,” the current organisers say.
