Update, 6.30pm:

A police spokesman said a two-car crash on Te Awanui Drive was reported about 3.50pm, and was initially blocking traffic.

Police attended but had since left the scene.

There were no reports of injuries in the police file on the incident.

Google Live Traffic Reporting shows traffic is flowing as normal.

Traffic is reportedly stalled on Te Awanui Drive following reports of a crash in Mount Maunganui.

A reader has phoned in to say that there was a two-vehicle crash near “the silos on Hewletts Rd”.

The reader said one of the vehicles looked badly damaged and traffic was “mental”.

According to Google’s Live Traffic Reporting, traffic is stalled in the Mount bound lane between the Elizabeth St roundabout, over the Tauranga Harbour Bridge heading towards Totara St.

Police have been contacted for more information.
