A section of State Highway 36 between Tauranga and Rotorua is now open following a crash earlier today.

The highway was blocked in both directions after truck and another vehicle crashed south of Roy Rd at 1.20pm.

Police said one person was reported to have minor injuries, and one person was reported to have moderate injuries.

NZ Transport Agency said SH36 was closed in both directions south of Roy Rd at the one-way bridge.

Diversions were in place at the time of the crash.

NZTA reports both sides of the highway are now open.
