Emergency services are at the scene of a vehicle crash in Te Puna, western Bay of Plenty.

Police received a report of a car hitting a person on Te Puna Road around 3.30pm.

“One person has serious injuries and was airlifted to hospital,” the police said.

Hato Hone St John was notified of a motor vehicle incident on Te Puna Road, Te Puna, at 3.24pm.

“Two ambulances, one rapid response unit, two operations managers, and one helicopter have responded.”

Police said the road is closed as emergency services attend the scene.

The Serious Crash Unit has been notified.
