Lotto NZ is reminding customers that all Lotto counters across New Zealand, as well as the MyLotto website and app, will be closed from 7pm today Sunday September 28 until late in the afternoon of Monday September 29.

The closure is to facilitate a once-in-a-generation technology upgrade spanning the lottery’s core technology platform as well as point-of-sale hardware in stores.

“This weekend is the culmination of an incredible amount of work by our team over the past two years,” Lotto NZ chief executive Jason Delamore said.

“Now we're into the home straight. From Sunday evening we’ll be working around the clock to ensure the transition goes smoothly and to get us back online as soon as possible on Monday afternoon."

Delamore said following the upgrade customers will see a range of changes, including new terminals with big screens in their stores and the consolidation of Lotto, Powerball and Strike on to single paper tickets

“We’re also simplifying the spending limits on MyLotto and bringing new games to Instant Kiwi Online," Delamore said.

“Importantly, the new system sets us up to deliver transformative customer experiences in future years.”

Key closure information for customers:

  • The switch to the new system is planned from 7pm Sunday September 28 until later in the afternoon on Monday September 29.

  • During this period Lotto counters in stores will be closed, and MyLotto customers will not be able to log in to their MyLotto accounts.

  • Instant Kiwi online will be unavailable for sale from 6pm on Sunday September 28.

  • Keno and Bullseye draws will run on Monday, but results will not be published until MyLotto and Lotto counters reopen later in the day. Tickets for Keno or Bullseye games on Monday September 29 will need to be purchased before MyLotto and Lotto counters close at 7pm on Sunday September 28.

  • Lotto stores and counters are expected to reopen from later in the afternoon of Monday September 29.

  • Customers wanting to buy tickets for upcoming draws should plan ahead. Lotto NZ recommends buying in advance for Keno and Bullseye draws on Monday September 29.

  • Customers can check mylotto.co.nz for updates in the lead up to, and during the planned closure period.
