The Mount Maunganui based company which operates New Zealand's biggest professionally built indoor skate park, has plans to open a similar complex in Auckland.
Called Dialled Indoor Skate Parks, they have been set up by Dept Of Adventure Ltd – one of New Zealand's largest distributors of stunt scooters, parts and accessories.
'The Mount Maunganui park has been a great success thus far and whether kids are pros or amateurs they have a great time scootering, skating and cycling at Dialled Indoor Skatepark,” says Kate Thomas of Dept of Adventure.
Based on the success of the park at the Mount Action Centre in Triton Ave, the company plans to open a Dialled Indoor Skatepark in Auckland before Christmas.
The professionally built and run, Mount Maunganui park has some of the most amazing ramps and features around including a foam pit and ‘resi ramp'.
The facility is 46m long and 26m wide and is open five days per week (seven days during the school holidays) offering multiple sessions for scooters, skateboards, rollerblades and BMX.
'The park is changed from time to time, to give users a new experience.”
Dept of Adventure Ltd currently sponsor eight stunt scooter riders from around New Zealand under the Scooter Central brand. During the school holidays Scooter Central travels with the riders to different skate parks around the country with the riders doing stunt demos, signings and product giveaways.
'We have had huge turnouts on our past tours with kids coming from far and wide” says Kate.
'Stunt scootering in New Zealand has exploded in the last six months. Just about every kid between six and 16 wants a stunt scooter and the craze has taken over nearly every skate park in New Zealand and Australia. 'We have so far held several kids' parties at the park and in fact have just run a successful deal for party bookings. Parents can relax while the kids tire themselves out for a few hours and there's no worry about the weather or cancellations as it's indoor.
'We are planning and working with child care services to provide school holiday programmes and specifically events for the upcoming summer school holidays.
'We are also working to secure advertising for Dialled Indoor with some of New Zealand's big brands, which will be finalised in the next few weeks. One company will have exclusive naming rights to the park with others having the opportunity to billboard advertising around the park,” says Kate.
