It’s 5 + A Day month

November is 5+ A Day Fruit and Vegetable Month and to celebrate 5+ A Day is issuing a challenge for everyone to add an extra serving of fresh fruit and
vegetables to their daily diet and to hold a special event.

The national body which promotes a healthy diet including at least five serving of fruit and vegetables a day suggest people hold a 5+ A Day event like a healthy lunch, dig a new garden or get the children to brainstorm ideas and register on the website www.5aday.co.nz

There are prizes to win and entries are open until the end of November. Events can be held at local schools or somewhere in the community.

There are five Apple iPads to be won by schools as well as fruit and vegetables delivered for the whole school for a week.

There are no limits or rules; just plan a picnic, lesson, field trip or anything at all that supports students learning about healthy eating and 5+ A Day. Go to the website and order curriculum linked resources to help get started. Winners will be drawn in early December.
