The Bay of Plenty rugby community is mourning the loss of a man who has been a "tireless contributor" for more than 50 years.
"It is with heavy hearts Bay of Plenty Rugby announce the passing of Ray Reardon," says a post on the Bay of Plenty Rugby Facebook page.
"Ray was a tireless contributor to rugby over a 50 plus year period," reads the post.
"Ray played his rugby in Counties Manukau and Waikato representing the provinces and also going onto representing the Maori All Blacks.
"Ray moved into coaching with Hutt Old Boys in Wellington before taking on administrating roles in rugby.
"His passion for the sport never faltered and his contributions to Barbarians Rugby, Harelequins and Centurions were significant.
"Ray moved to Bay of Plenty where he continued his involvement and was a regular at Club Rugby and Bay of Plenty games.
"Bay of Plenty Rugby express our sincere condolences to Ray's whanau at this time."
A funeral service is being held Ray at 11am Saturday, May 20, at Mount Maunganui Surf Lifesaving Club, 1 Marine Parade, Mt Maunganui.
