Beach Ferns Alice Zeimann and Shaunna Polley won another thrilling final in the Women's Premier in the GJ Gardner Homes NZ Beach Tour presented by Tip Top at Mount Maunganui's main beach.
In a repeat of week two's final, the Ferns had to fight another titanic battle against Olivia MacDonald and Alaina Chacon, before sealing the win 2-1 (19-21,21-19,16-14).
In windy conditions on the weekend, Zeimann and Polley took an early 7-1 lead before MacDonald and Chacon came roaring back to level it up 7-7.
For there, the teams went point for point with MacDonald making a massive block and following up with an ace to go 17-15 up and take the set 21-19.

The second set was a similar story, with the Ferns taking the lead late, with Zeimann making a big spike, and Polley showing a classy soft touch to seal it 21-19 and take the match to a decider.
MacDonald made a massive spike late to set up match point, but Zeimann and Polley kept fighting until the end to close the set out 16-14 and take the win.
'It's a mental game, because we train with the girls all the time, and they beat us last weekend,” says Alice Zeimann.
'We're really stoked with how we handled that pressure.”
'For us, it's a real mental thing when we get to that 13-13 stage… we really have to keep the foot on the throat and keep doing our thing. We came out and defended really well and made some really big plays when we needed to,” says Shaunna Polley.
In the Men's Premier, Mount locals Sam and Ben O'Dea put on a clinic in a dominant first set that didn't give Tom Hartles and Tom Heijs a sniff.

They took the lead early and raced out to a 11-6 lead, showing all their experience with soft touches at the net, mixed up with big swings, consistently finding empty space on the sand.
Sam O'Dea made a huge block look easy to take it to 18-10, with Ben making a massive spike to seal the first set 21-13.
The second set was much tighter, with Hartles and Heijs showing the form that got them to the finals, levelling the scores at 12-12 with a Heijs ace.
From there the O'Deas edged away, taking a four point lead with a massive Sam O'Dea block at 18-14, before closing it out 21-16.
'We just wanted to have fun and be dominant,” says Ben O'Dea.

'The biggest danger for us was going into cruise control. It was about figuring out when that was going to happen and stopping it, and making sure we were having fun.”
'It's home town, home crowd. We just know the beach, and play all over the world, so it's cool to come here and play some really cool events right here,” says Sam O'Dea.
